How to set goals the right way?

Setting goals the right way is one of the vital parts of their achievement. It is not only about keeping them specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely, as the SMART approach says. Setting weight loss goals is also about your reasoning and motivation.

Answer yourself why do you want to lose weight? If the only reason why you’re doing this is to pat your ego, you might find sticking to the diet and going to the gym quite challenging.

Think of other reasons you need to drop excess pounds—like, being healthier, becoming a good example for your kids, or competing better in sports. Losing weight can be challenging, so the more reasons you have, the better.

How to make your New Year resolutions work?

Another essential part of achieving your goal is how you start approaching it. The thing is, weight loss is an extensive goal. It takes you a lot of commitment to count calories or control your portions, stay consistent through weekends, go to the gym several times a week, and walk more throughout the day. If you start following all these great habits all at once, you might collapse very soon.

The thing is, at the beginning of any great habit is willpower. And your willpower is a limited resource. If you start changing your life all at once, you will most probably break off before you achieve your goal.

What’s the right way to achieve your dream weight, then?

Take one step at a time. Work on one habit first. Make it a part of your routine. And then, when it doesn’t take too much of your willpower, proceed with other habits.

Minimize your sugary snacks and start controlling your portions. When you’re okay with that, add more vegetables and lean protein sources to your meals. Feeling good? Try following a well-balanced meal plan, or try one of our top-rated diets for faster weight loss.

Start with taking more steps a day. When you feel that you don’t have to push yourself anymore, try to add some sports. Now, when you’re a bit stronger and love physical activity, think of building some muscles.

Think of weight loss as a marathon and not a sprint
