Soba noodles are a type of Japanese spaghetti. Initially, they are made from buckwheat flour, but some manufacturers can also add wheat or white flour. The classic soba noodles are gluten-free and low in fat. They are high in protein and contain valuable minerals like zinc, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and iron.
Zaru Soba or just Soba noodles are quick to prepare; therefore very important not to overcook them. Firstly, you have to boil the water and add the noodles. Stir them well; this is necessary to ensure that the noodles don't stick together. Cook noodles for about 2-3 minutes. Then drain out the water and put soba noodles into the bowl.
Soda noodles are very easy to eat. After boiling the noodles, you have to cool them before serving. Pour the dipping sauce into a cup or a small bowl. Dip soba noodles into the sauce; do it whenever you take noodles from the plate. Don't forget to add condiments such as green onion, wasabi, or sesame seeds to cook sesame soba.
You can eat soba noodles cold or hot; both variants are acceptable. The hot meal is usually served with broth, called soba noodle soup. You can also add chopped onions or meat; it depends on your taste.
Cold soba is placed on a separate plate, and noodles are eaten by dipping them into the sauce.
To make your noodle bowls more nourishing, you can serve them with additional toppings: tempura, boiled egg, fried tofu or stir-fried mushrooms.
